We all came together on a beautiful winters afternoon on the Sunshine Coast. I wanted to try and get as many diverse women I could. We had women with backgrounds from India to Zimbabwe, Italian to Maori NZ, Australia’s first nations people to South African with some hints of German, Scottish and French also.

These women are wearing the beautiful HARA The Label. Incredibly soft, comfortable, plant dyed bamboo pieces & we were lucky enough to use the stunning Wonderdome, thank you Nicole (who also did some second shooting).

I decided to blog this shoot on January 26th, a day that has been named as “Australia Day” when it should really be called “Invasion Day”. I am a white Australian. I personally used to hold “Australia Day/Hottest 100” parties at home. I was uneducated and had no clue of the pain and suffering that occurred on that day. Over the last few years I became more aware of the hurt that this day brings our aboriginal/torres strait islander people. I do believe that Australia as a whole should be celebrated, we are so incredibly lucky to be living on such a beautiful part of the world, but on a day where EVERYONE feels included. Invasion Day is not that day.

It’s been hard to look at my news feed lately with all of the devastation from the fires. We had a bad fire come through my suburb just over 3 months ago. It was one of the scariest times moments I’d witnessed. The embers were flying over our house and the wind was strong. The house opposite us burnt down but we were very fortunate with ours still standing. These fire fighters have been amazing and these beautiful friends of ours in the photo housed us for a few days while our street was evacuated.

Four months on and there is now beautiful regrowth coming through.

We need to respect & listen to our First Nations people. Respect the land. Humans need the Earth, the Earth does not need humans. 💛🖤❤️

Late Saturday afternoon on the 11th February 2017. It was a magical full moon; this full moon was the moon of Leo. Leo represents the opening of a new gateway and starting point into the energies of 2017. Eclipses act like the doorways into different energy paths, and are powerful enough to transform, shift and change the direction and flow of your life.

Inner goddess is a project that I had set myself at the start of the year to capture women every full moon of this year embracing their natural beauty.  In this day and age it is very easy to get sucked into societies beauty standards. The idea of this project is to celebrate who we are, our bodies, our femininity and our “Inner Goddess”.

I had fourteen; beautiful, courageous sisters come down to the beach that afternoon. Some, who were comfortable being in front of the camera and some who were feeling quite vulnerable. I can’t thank these girls enough for embracing the situation. I feel so humble and grateful that they trusted me enough to photograph them in this way. It was truly a magical afternoon/night I will not forget. To see everyone come together, loving unconditionally was just incredible. We as sisters need to stick together and lift each other up instead of putting ourselves (and each other) down. Every single one of us is different and unique in our own ways. Self-love is not always easy, hey, I’m still learning. It takes practice, it takes time. Surround yourself with people who lift you up and make you feel good about yourself.

As well as photographing, I also made a video and it just makes me smile every time I watch it. I hope it gives you a big grin and makes you feel all sorts of warm fuzzies! Also Interviewed some of the girls and asked them some deeper questions throughout the blog, give them a read!

It’s only the start of 2017. I can’t wait to meet more beautiful women throughout the year and witness each full moon rise.

Spent a few spontaneous hours with the gorgeous @aliciavaneyk this week. This shoot was raw and beautiful, listening to the sounds of Deya Dova and choosing an oracle cards that called us. Alicia chose Blood Angel.

15/02/2018- Gorgeous Codi, Lightening strikes, Sunsets & Sparklers.

Last week I met these two incredible, down to Earth, kind hearted men. Luke & Oliver. This shoot was not planned at all but it has turned out to be my favourites yet. It's raw, it's beautiful and it's one that is pretty close to my heart.

AND just so happens that I did this shoot around the time that we are having the marriage equality postal vote being sent out in Australia. 

OPEN YOUR MIND, OPEN YOUR HEART. 

It breaks my heart that there is still a debate on same sex marriage. Love has no gender. Love is love. Same-sex marriage is not a privilege, it's EQUAL RIGHTS. Why wouldn't you want someone to be happy? I just don't understand it. And sure, everyone is entitled to their opinions but what I won't stand for is discrimination, bullying or hate. I want my LGBTQ friends to have the same rights I do. 

LOVE is my religion. LOVE is the answer.

BE REAL - Campaign Online Now!

This campaign was created by a beautiful friend of mine, Kate Fenton from The Lunatique. I quickly decided to jump on board soon after. How could I not?!

The #BEREAL project is super special because we don’t see a lot of “natural beauty” anymore, with the amount of photoshop in the media it gives a false sense of what is “real”. With societies high “beauty” expectations it’s so refreshing to see people being so raw, vulnerable and to be authentically themselves. THAT’S REFRESHING! 

No BODY is perfect. Nobody is perfect.

I did seven shoots within a week and a half. Photographing girls of different shapes, sizes, hair colours & backgrounds. Trying to get a diverse group of women, who are all strong, powerful, strikingly raw, vulnerable and all equally and uniquely beautiful in their own ways.

I’m over the moon with how it all turned out.

Some of these girls travelled 2-3 hours for these shoots. I appreciate you all for allowing me to capture your beauty.

This has been one of my favourite shoots and I've been dying to share it!

I'd organised to shoot with Maya, got makeup done by Valentina Pintus and picked her up and her friend Hannah came along. After shooting with Maya for a while Hannah asked to join in and it just worked out so perfectly. Feeling so liberated and free they were just so naturally beautiful together.
